| "Gokce
Evi" is a newly renovated traditional
Turkish house in the small village of Gokbel on
the South West coast of Turkey, the Turqoise coast.
It will appeal to
those who want a taste of unspoilt Turkey
in a rural location. Situated 10 minutes from Dalyan,
Gokbel is only a mile from Iztuzu beach, nestled
in pine-clad hills. Dalyan is a small, pleasant
town set in a river delta in one of the most beautiful
areas of Turkey.
Just upriver from Dalyan is the magnificent
Lake Koycegiz, with its natural hot springs
and mud baths. The river flows from the lake through
a labyrinth of reed beds to Iztuzu beach,
3 miles of golden sand protected for the loggerhead
turtles which breed there.
Ideal as a base for all sorts of holidays. With
the beach so near, it is ideal for families
who want to spend lots of time at the seaside. Dalyan
is close when one wants the fun of wandering along
the shopping streets, enjoying café life
and watching the boats on the river.
For nature lovers there are wonderful
trails through the pine-scented hills as well as
down to the sea. It is a haven for birdwatchers,
with both the mountain and the lake so near.
One can wander up to the pancake house with its
panoramic view while eating delicious pancakes filled
with local cheese and herbs or honey.

Or climb down to
the lake and be virtually guaranteed to be alone
on its freshwater beach.
Further afield there are wonderful trips
to be made to ancient Lycian sites or the
eery ghost town of Kayakoy and harbour towns of
Fethiye and Gocek.
Or stay quietly in
the house for a period of retreat.
Its peaceful quality is well suited to contemplation
or simply being.
